Welcome to the Quarter 4 Fine Fragrance Trend Stories Report, tracking and discussing the hottest trend stories of Autumn 2022 and Winter 2022/2023. This Fine Fragrance Trend Stories report is packed with 66 new launches covering late September 2022 – December 2022. Each trend story features future focused ingredient insights that will help your creative team develop new scent ranges across all fragrance sectors from personal care to home care. We analysed and tracked global fine fragrance launches and ‘everything new’ in Q4 (and some upcoming from 2023 as Winter continues) from niche, premium, mass and indie brands across all genders, and grouped these influential macrotrends to create 11 new trend stories with themes including ‘Golden Moments’, ‘Smoke Signals’ and ‘Wearing Wellbeing’. At Liberty, in the UK, fragrance sales are up 82% compared to last year, despite the financial pressures on people across the country. While the boom in fragrance sales peaked in March, the category remains buoyant — good news as the industry heads into the holidays. • A Market Landscape with data + a Trend Snapshot This report forms part of our suite of macro forecasts looking at fragrance trends and forecasting the new focus notes and ingredients for the future. TrendAroma’s macro forecasts are produced with a global outlook ensuring they have broad relevance across all regional markets. Our trends are validated by data, industry examples and our specialist trend tracking methodology.
Cocooning and comforting notes have a delectable kick of spice, a twist of snuggly iris, a cozy blanket of praline and of course sandalwood and musk – 2 of this years biggest influences. The golden trend is still bringing the bling to winter perfumes – and vanilla is the note that rules here – albeit with some new combinations and interesting twists that add to its ongoing sophisticated evolution. Cool, clean and sappy green notes as the trend for forest bathing and the obsession with pine, birch, pine tar and balsams extends into the winter months in perfumery. Who would have thought that mushroom would be a fragrance inspiration! Since fennel, beetroot, carrot and cauliflower have all been trending this year ‘earthy’ ingredients have taken on a new meaning in naturals.
